Boyd Gaming to Divest Sam's Town Shreveport to Bally's Corporation

A significant asset transfer is on the horizon within the U.S. gaming sector, as Boyd Gaming Corporation has formally agreed to sell its Sam's Town Hotel & Casino in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Bally's Corporation. This definitive agreement, announced by the prominent gaming and entertainment entity, marks a strategic realignment for both industry players.

The transaction, for which financial specifics have not been publicly disclosed, is anticipated to reach its conclusion in the third quarter of 2026. The finalization remains subject to the receipt of all requisite regulatory clearances and the fulfillment of customary closing conditions typical for such corporate acquisitions.

Sam's Town Shreveport, which has been an integral part of Boyd Gaming's portfolio since 2004, is strategically positioned in downtown Shreveport, notably adjacent to Bally's existing Shreveport Casino & Hotel. This 29,000-square-foot casino offers patrons a comprehensive gaming experience with 750 slot machines and 14 table games. Complementing its vibrant gaming floor, the property includes a substantial 514-room hotel, diverse culinary options, dedicated convention and meeting facilities, and a venue for live entertainment.

Keith Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming, stated that the divestiture aligns with the company's ongoing efforts to refine and optimize its operational framework. Mr. Smith reflected on Sam's Town Shreveport's two-decade tenure under Boyd Gaming's stewardship, acknowledging the dedicated service of its past and present team members in providing exceptional guest experiences since its integration in 2004.

From Bally's Corporation's perspective, Executive Chairman Soo Kim underscored the company's profound understanding of the Shreveport market, stemming from its current operational presence. Mr. Kim emphasized that the acquisition of Sam's Town Shreveport not only reflects Bally's conviction in the local community but also signifies a long-term commitment to augmenting its regional footprint. He expressed expectations for substantial opportunities to reinvest in the market, aiming to further solidify Shreveport's position as a premier destination for gaming and entertainment. Bally's has indicated that more detailed plans for the acquired property will be shared in due course.
