DraftKings Extends Digital Reach with Puerto Rico Sportsbook Launch

DraftKings has marked a significant milestone in its ongoing expansion strategy by launching a fully operational online sportsbook in Puerto Rico. This move solidifies a partnership initially forged on November 17, 2026, with the Foxwoods El San Juan Casino, bringing mobile sports wagering capabilities to the U.S. territory.

This latest market entry broadens DraftKings' footprint to 26 U.S. states, in addition to the District of Columbia and Ontario, Canada, underscoring the company's continuous efforts to penetrate new regulated gambling jurisdictions. The launch is poised to serve Puerto Rico's fervent sports community, providing a digital platform for enthusiasts.

Gregory Karamitis, DraftKings' Executive Vice President and General Manager of Sports, articulated the company's vision for the territory. "Puerto Rico is home to a deeply passionate sports community, and the introduction of our online sportsbook allows us to connect directly with fans wherever they are," Karamitis stated. He further emphasized the progression: "With our retail presence already established at Foxwoods El San Juan Casino, the mobile platform represents the logical next step in expanding the comprehensive DraftKings experience across the entire island."

Distinct from many mainland U.S. operations, the Puerto Rican online sportsbook operates with a specific caveat: only residents of the self-governed territory are permitted to place wagers. This regulatory framework means visitors to the island are ineligible to participate in online sports betting. While online sports wagering is now active, online casino offerings remain unavailable within Puerto Rico.

DraftKings enters a competitive landscape, joining other major industry players such as BetMGM, Caesars, and FanDuel, all of whom have established sports betting operations locally. This launch is part of a broader series of strategic maneuvers by DraftKings, which has recently signaled its interest in entering prediction markets, a direction that has reportedly caused friction with the American Gaming Association.

Furthermore, both DraftKings and FanDuel are reportedly assessing potential entry into Arkansas, despite the state's notably strict revenue-sharing model that mandates 51% of gross gaming revenue be remitted to local partners. In parallel efforts to broaden its demographic reach, DraftKings recently introduced Spanish-language versions of its sportsbook and online casino platforms, catering to a wider audience both domestically and internationally.
