Multi-Agency Sting at Washington's 7 Cedars Casino Leads to Significant Drug and Firearm Seizures

The Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team (OPNET), in a joint operation with several law enforcement agencies and 7 Cedars Casino security, successfully dismantled an alleged drug distribution network operating out of the Sequim-based establishment. The two-day initiative culminated in the arrest of three individuals and the confiscation of controlled substances, firearms, and a substantial sum of cash.

The investigation commenced earlier in the week when OPNET agents executed a warrant on Tuesday, apprehending two local residents tied to a separate drug-dealing operation within Clallam County. This initial action yielded critical intelligence, directing investigators to a group of individuals suspected of extensive involvement in illicit drug sales.

Further inquiry revealed the suspects were lodging at the 7 Cedars Casino. Collaborating closely with the casino's security personnel and local police departments, OPNET detectives pinpointed the suspects' whereabouts. A statement from the Clallam County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the group, primarily residents of Kitsap County, was "actively involved in selling controlled substances in Clallam County."

During the ensuing operation at the casino, authorities apprehended a 35-year-old male from Kitsap County. He was immediately detained on charges including Delivery of a Controlled Substance. A subsequent search uncovered 196.37 grams of fentanyl, meticulously packaged for distribution, alongside a digital scale and packaging materials. Additionally, two loaded pistol magazines were seized. A search warrant executed on his vehicle led to the discovery and confiscation of a .45 caliber pistol and accompanying ammunition. Given his prior felony convictions, which prohibit firearm ownership, the suspect faces additional charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver. His bail was set at $250,000.

A second suspect, a 43-year-old male also from Kitsap County, was identified and arrested at the scene. A search of his vehicle yielded fentanyl, a digital scale bearing drug residue, and documents detailing drug sales. Furthermore, a bolt-action shotgun and a 9mm pistol were recovered. Similar to the first individual, this suspect's prior felony convictions render his possession of firearms illegal. He was booked into Clallam County Jail on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, with his bail likewise established at $250,000.

The operation also led to the detention of a third individual, a 41-year-old resident of Key Peninsula, found to be in possession of a 9mm pistol without the requisite concealed weapons permit. He was processed into the Clallam County Jail for Unlawful Carry of a Firearm, with his bond set at $30,000.

In total, nearly $20,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illegal distribution of narcotics, was also confiscated as part of the successful law enforcement effort. The multi-agency response underscores a continued commitment to addressing illicit drug and firearm activities within the region.
