Crown Melbourne Unveils Landmark AU$200 Million Redevelopment and Sustainability Drive

Crown Melbourne has announced an extensive AU$200 million (approximately US$142 million) revitalization project, marking its largest investment in property redevelopment over the past 30 years. The comprehensive program aims to significantly enhance and expand the integrated resort's existing facilities.

Key elements of the immediate plans include the introduction of 15 new restaurants, bars, and eateries, alongside a substantial modernization of the property's renowned Riverwalk. Ed Domingo, CEO of Crown Melbourne, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting its strategic importance.

“This significant investment in new dining, entertainment, and the iconic Riverwalk will cement Crown’s place as the ultimate destination for food, fun, entertainment, and late-night energy,” Domingo stated.

The redevelopment also focuses on creating an improved public open space, which will feature outdoor terrace dining options and an emphasis on green energy solutions to bolster sustainability credentials. Notable additions to the precinct will include a new riverside gastropub, strategically positioned along the Yarra River waterfront.

Furthermore, The Palms entertainment venue is scheduled for a rebranding and will reopen as the Crown Live Theater in November 2026. This newly christened venue will boast a capacity of up to 1,250 attendees, designed to host international performers and theatrical residencies, thereby elevating Crown's standing as a premier entertainment hub.

Luxury accommodations will also see upgrades, with plans for the lobby bar at Crown Towers to undergo refurbishment. The 28th floor of Crown Metropol will be transformed into an exclusive destination for private events, broadening the property's capacity to cater to high-profile clientele.

Domingo added, “Melburnians and our visitors have changed over the past 30 years – and this reimagining of our precinct ensures we continue to elevate our offering and deliver experiences fit for the next generation.”

In a parallel commitment to environmental stewardship, Crown is integrating advanced solar technologies. This includes the installation of rooftop solar panels, battery storage, and other solar solutions across 500,000 square meters spanning two central business district blocks. These initiatives are projected to reduce the property's carbon emissions by 23% by 2027.

The introduction of these new and upgraded facilities will be phased progressively throughout 2026 and 2027.
