The so-called curse refers to a widely held belief among sports fans that any team or athlete Drake publicly supports is destined to lose. The rapper has never shied away from the narrative, often acknowledging that his betting decisions are driven by personal loyalty rather than statistical analysis.

Drake announced his wager on social media the day before the game, Saturday, February 7, challenging others to bet against him.
