Team Vitality Concludes StarCraft II Operations Amid Esports World Cup Exclusion

Paris, France – Team Vitality, a prominent French esports club established in 2013, has confirmed its complete disengagement from the StarCraft II (SC2) professional circuit. This strategic decision marks the end of a two-year involvement for the organization in the popular real-time strategy title.

Founded by esports pioneers Fabien "Neo" Devide, Nicolas Maurer, Corentin "Gotaga" Houssein, and Kevin "BrokyBrawks" Georges, Team Vitality entered the SC2 arena in 2024. To navigate the demanding competitive landscape, the organization strategically assembled an experienced roster of four South Korean players. This elite lineup featured Cho "Maru" Seong-ju, Park "Zoun" Han-sol, Kim "Ryung" Dong Won, and Choi "CranK" Jae-won, who also served as the team’s General Manager.

During its tenure, Team Vitality's SC2 division achieved considerable success, securing a dominant position in various tournaments and accumulating numerous accolades. Their performance underscored the organization's commitment to excellence across its competitive gaming portfolio.

The announcement from Team Vitality closely follows a significant development in the broader esports ecosystem: the confirmation earlier this year that StarCraft II would not be featured in the Esports World Cup 2026. This exclusion has reportedly generated widespread disappointment among the game’s dedicated fanbase and professional teams, likely influencing organizations' strategic planning.

In an official statement, Team Vitality expressed its sentiments regarding the departure: "Today we announce that we will be leaving the SC2 scene." The organization extended its profound gratitude to its SC2 roster members—Maru, Zoun, Ryung, and CranK—for their exceptional contributions. The statement acknowledged the players for consistently representing Vitality with professionalism, celebrating the numerous trophy lifts, and creating unforgettable moments. It concluded with best wishes for their future endeavors.

Beyond its former SC2 operations, Team Vitality maintains a robust and diverse presence across the esports landscape, fielding competitive teams in high-profile titles such as Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), PUBG Mobile, Rocket League, and League of Legends. As a leading esports entity, Team Vitality has cultivated strong partnerships with globally recognized brands, including Stake, Kia, Kick, and Kingston, further solidifying its standing in the industry.
